task 1 2 3 sound
What is sound?
Sound
is a vibration that moves through the air, and this is represented though
sound waves. Sound is measured in decibels, or DP or DPU.
Acoustics is in every room, it is a surface anywhere you
are, mostly hard surfaces is where sound reflects off, this means in certain
rooms when you make a big sounds like a clap you hear the sound ping though the
whole room this is because it is reflecting off each surfaces in a room off the
walls. Absorption, this is when you have panels, like in a music studio or in
films, it is used or break up sound, this is what is meant by Acoustics
propties, treatment, it is heling the sound to die, this is because you don’t
want to hear background noises, if you don’t want to hear these background
noises you should always be in a closed room like a cupboard as It is really
small and the sound doesn’t have that much time to reflect. Reverberation is
the amount of time the sounds takes in order for it to die out, what it does it
is when you’re in a church or in the mountains, your voice stops however, it
echoes till that echo dies out. So if you are in room and speak very loudly it
will reflect off everything until your voice dies out, this is mostly used in
music videos.
Sound outside is not the most ideal as there will be a lot of wind noise and the envoirment is not the best, in order to prevent this you will need to get a wind cover, this will stop all the background noise

Microphones – task 2
There
are 2 common microphones both used for different purposes
the first one is the dynamic microphone
the second one is condenser
the first one is the dynamic microphone
the second one is condenser
The dynamic mic is mostly used for live performances, when
music artist perform, and if you drop the mic it won’t break at all
The condenser mic is really expensive, and if you drop this mic it will break and you won’t be able to use ever again, and this is used for studio purposes, also if you go above the highest dp the mic will also break. There work in slimar ways however different inside

The dynamic works like this
the artist is singing and then it hits on the front plate,
it goes though the coil moving it up and down to the magnet, and creates
electric audio source, and this is then made into a soundwave.
The
condenser works in a slimair way however it doesn’t have a magnet, so the coil
can’t move up and down to create sound waves, it works with its 2 plates, so
when the sound waves come though it hits the diaphragm (which is the front
plate), it sends it current round though the back plate and it goes down, to
the battery, which powers it up, that was in the past, now we power it with
phantom power.
You have many different types of mics,
one of those types being hand-held mic which is when you just hold in your hand a use it
another one of them is lavelier when you clip the microphone on to the person, it is commonly used when presents are presenting
A boundary mic is used for big speeches this picks up direction from every angle, this is used for stuff like bbc news.

Polar- response is the direction of where everything is
being picked up from, you have the back front and side of a condenser, you have
a 8 a heart and circle that is what a polar patterns are,
Heart Is when you use it only from the front. This is called Super and hyper cardioid
circle is a when you want to pick up everything around you, and it is called omnidirectional
The 8 is bidirectional and used for if you want to pick up the font and the back only, not the sides.

With the microphone you should not cuff it becomes more
muffled this is called the proximity effect, it is more common when people rap
the mounts is a clip that you clip onto to mic

Different types of cables
Mono -1
stereo -2
stereo -2
Mono jack has 1 ring, whilst stereo has 2 rings
XLR cable is the most common used for microphones, it has 2 ends, the female and male ends you do this by putting the male cable into the female cable
Task 3
the zoom microphone is like a Dictaphone
multi track recorders in mostly in music and it means that multiple devices being recorded at one time
before hand with the zoom mic we will need to check that the zoom mic is set up, by doing this it will cancel out any background noise as we need the sound to be at a perfect level this will be tested by saying 1..2..3 testing, this will be indacted with a little arrow above the sound check so I will know the right sound to use. If not the playback will sound fizzy, it should be on 0dpu, this is called distortion.
I will be recording inside, most likely in the sound room as there a lot of panels and things that block off sound, this is due to mics being really sensitive as there will pick up the littlest bit of sound and it will ruin the recording.
Clapper board- is used to sync the audio to the audio footage, in premier pro it will auto sync itself, in order to do merge two clips together and it will analyse it all by itself.
Logic the 2 tools required are scissors and the pointer tool
