BCAP codes and problems
The code of conduct
These are rules set by the BCAP.
5.1: Advertisements that are suitable for older children but could distress younger children must be sensitively schedules
This means we can't show nothing past 9.00 as that's when most children's show finish and are the child mostly goes sleep around that time , in order to prevent this we will only show our advert past 9.00 as then it will appeal to more parents at the time
5.2 advertisements must not condone, encourage or unreasonably feature behaviour that could be dangerous for children to emulate
This means that we will not show anything the child will be encouraged to do, for example if a child is getting bullied we will not show the fight scene as the child will start to do it. Another example is that if a child is diabetic and needs to inject them self him a needle, we will not show ANY children with injection as it is a massive danger for the child as it may cause serious harm if a child starts to think injecting themselves is fine , and we if we do the parents will complain. As well as needles there are different equiment which that could harm the child, however the equiment that can harm tehm the most is surgical equipment as it is really sharp, and easily be mistaking for other things
Child actors may feature in advertisements but care must be taken to ensure that those advertisements neither mislead nor exploit children's inexperience, credulity or sense of loyalty..
THIS means that if the actor is under 16 years of age we must use the actor their full potential and not mislead and impression
Children must be protected from advertisements that could cause physical, mental or moral harm.
This means that we can't show anything that is graphic to the children as it may cause the child to be scared and affect them physically as if there unwell there may not want to go to the hospital. Also moral harm which means that we can't mess with no ones feelings or the person's rights. Or fails to prevent acts that go against anyone's religion. This will be done so we don't offend no one at all
Marketers must not unfairly portray or refer to anyone in an adverse or offensive way unless that person has given the marketer written permission to allow it
The first problem we will face will be actors. It will be hard to get actors because we are filming for a children's based charity so we will have to use child actors. We could use younger brothers or sisters otherwise we won't have any other actors to film with. We will either ask younger people or siblings we know to act in our production.
Another problem we face is that if we do film in college it will be difficult as there will be a lot of people in our way, who will get in our way, and start to ask questions, and it will waste our time if we try to explain, also staff will be a issue as there will not know we are filming so there might tell us to stop
Also we can't offended with images we use, as some of the children have life threatening diseases which could offend people with friends or family suffering from this
We won't be able to use images from google, this is because of copyright issues. Instead we plan to contact the charity we will be promoting and ask them for images we could use in our production. This is because we won't have to worry about anything to do with copyright and use any pics there send us
This is a fairly thorough piece of work Aaron although there are some proof reading issues early on. You could clarify about how to get parental permission for under 16s, and you could also consider use of copyright music. Vanessa and Corey
